Yet another great achievement in the field of the electric vehicle; batteries that use air!
In a battery you have what is called the anode and the cathode (the positive and negative) of a battery. In the case of Lithium-Air, the cathode weighs a lot less, since air is used. A great technology, but it still has some practicalities to overcome, such as 'recycling' the Lithium on charging again.
Batteries That Breathe Pack More Punch

Everyone knows the Achilles’ heel of electric vehicle are limited range and long recharge time. A lot of time and money is being spent trying to change that. Lithium-air batteries are a promising technology that theoretically could create batteries the same energy density as gasoline.
